Summary
V didn’t remember walking out of Arasaka Tower. Or crashing through whatever hell they’d called a mission. Truth was, her memory of that week was a big black void. One second, she was moving, fighting, thinking—maybe screaming—and the next, nothing. Just fragments of pain, gnawing and blunt, the kind that didn’t care about timing or logic. Bits of herself showed up in flashes: her body aching in places she didn’t even know could hurt, her head pounding with a rhythm that didn’t match any music she’d ever heard, and the occasional echo of someone screaming her name. That someone, apparently, wasn’t in the room.
V goes through the five stages of grief in a world without Johnny, but the Silverhand-shaped hole left in her heart never really heals. Then one night, when she thinks she’s finally made her uneasy peace, there’s a knock at the door.

Summary
Johnny told her she would come to regret her decision, but V never could have imagined just how right he would be. After signing her soul away to Arasaka in an act of desperation for survival, V is faced with the true weight of what it means to make a deal with a devil in a corporate mask. What was once a bargain for a second chance has become an endless loop of suffering as V becomes a subject of deadly experiments at the hands of Arasaka; her body discarded and her engram reuploaded into a freshly printed one over and over. The endless cycle of death and rebirth leaves V’s sense of self unraveling as each new body begins to feel more like a cage, and her psyche begins to deteriorate. Will she have the strength to fight back, or will she surrender to her fate as atonement for her betrayal?
"V was a lot of things; stubborn, impulsive, reckless, careless, overly optimistic at times, but not naive; at least that is not a word she would use to describe herself, but if something walks like a sheep and baas like a sheep, then it’s probably a sheep and when a sheep trusts a wolf they get bit, and V is beginning to realize just how much that fucking hurts."

Summary
