Summary
Only minutes ago, one of his guards had burst into his office, nearly hysterical with fear, wildly explaining to him that they’d spotted a monster in the depths outside the Fortress.
It was no monster. That, Wriothesley knew.

Summary
“No!”
For a man of his stature, Wriothesley crosses the room at impressive speed. One hand clamps around Neuvillette's wrist, and the other snatches the note away just before it can fall to its burning demise. There's nowhere for Neuvillette to retreat— not unless he wants to take the note's spot in the fireplace— so he just braces himself on his feet as he parses Wriothesley's irate expression.
“What the hell are you doing?” Wriothesley demands as he straightens. “That's evidence.” He holds the note up and away, as if he's expecting Neuvillette to grab at it like a child whose toy has been confiscated.
“Evidence of what?” Neuvillette asks, astonished by the display of fervor from a man known for turning polite nonchalance into an art form. “It's not a crime to send a letter.”
“Letter?” Wriothesley growls. “I think you mean threat.”
Neuvillette receives a threatening letter, and Wriothesley makes some threats of his own.

Summary
“Woah. What do we have here?”
Neuvillette startles, launching a spray of saltwater into the air as he uses his tail fin to slam to a halt. He stares at the beach where the voice originated, and the massive winged male standing alone on the sand stares right back.
For a heartbeat, all they do is stare. Tension crackles like Electro along rigid sight lines until the male blinks, snapping the connection. Freed from this strange tether of eye contact, Neuvillette pumps his tail and begins retreating into deeper water. Sparing a glance over his shoulder, he sees the male wading through the waves with both feet planted on the ground. His wings remain unused, folded snugly against his back.
He chases... but he chooses not to fly? Why?
A creature of the sea and a man of the sky learn how to reach new heights together.

Summary
”Thank you for coming, Duke Wriothesley,” he said. “Please, take a seat.”
Wriothesley did as instructed, settling into the chair without leaning back, posture alert, eyes never leaving him. “You called?”
”Yes.” Neuvillette clasped his hands together. “This meeting is not disciplinary in nature, nor does it concern an ongoing case,” he took a breath, slow and shaky. Wriothesly watched the way his fingers tightened, the way his shoulders barely lifted with the breath he took. Neuvilette continued. “I required your presence for… consultation.”
Wriothesley straightened his posture and asked, “For what kind of consultation?"
Neuvillette hesitated, just barely. “Personal conduct,” he said, tone even. “Or rather, the consequences of it.”
Silence followed. The kind meant to invite elaboration.
