Summary
TK’s life has always been defined by his dad’s decision to be the person running into the danger. After their move to Austin revealed TK had a 4 year old daughter, TK has been grappling with his dad’s choices, and his own. A suspension that turned into a leave of absence let TK spend time getting to know his daughter but, now, TK has to face the thing he’s been avoiding for far longer than 8 months: the firehouse and the relationships with his father housed within it.
Carlos has spent years wondering if the man he’s become has ever made his father proud. The last year has amplified the cracks that have existed in Carlos’ relationship with his dad for years, but his dad is trying. And Carlos? Well, he can’t seem to stop making choices he knows his dad would hate. While the past year was difficult, the coming year threatens to unravel everything.
TK and Carlos’ relationship with their dads isn’t the only thing they have to contend with. The stressors of work, dating, and being a dual first responder family are piling up, and when the lines between personal and professional start to blur, it threatens to send their world up in flames.
