“Forever?”
Though the camera doesn’t catch it, Joyce and Jonathan exchange an amused look over the rearview.
Then, the footage splices, rapidly cutting through various points in life—Will and Mike’s first time hanging out at the Byers’; Mike coming over for Will’s birthday; Will coming over for Mike’s. Flashes of middle school that stretched into those final days before they left for Lenora. High school, graduation, moving day—the clips start blurring into one another as more pop up, but it stops on a clip of Mike and Will, probably around six years old, giggling as they try to handle the camera.
“We’ll see about forever, honey.”
(or, the one where jonathan byers has a lot of stocked up video footage from when mike and will were kids, and decides that the best time to reveal them is during his best man speech at their wedding.)

Summary
The second funeral is worse than the first one.
They’re standing around the same plot of dirt, lowering another small coffin into the ground, throwing more yellow roses in the grave. There’s no crowd of people in the second funeral—no Jennifer Hayeses to fake cry over a boy she barely knew, no Lonnie Byerses to smoke cigarettes in the corner and snuff them out on the priest’s podium. There was hardly a priest at all, this time around.
He thinks it’s for the better. Mike doesn’t think God deserves to guide Will to his afterlife when He couldn’t even guide him back to Mike.
There’s blinks of moments between before and after. Before Will was lowered, and after it.
Mike barely feels any of it.
(or, the one where will byers never makes it home after 1983, and mike wheeler feels like a piece of him never did, either.)

Summary
That seems to click something in the woman’s head, because in three seconds flat, she’s pulling her helmet back and staring her dark eyes dead into Will’s.
Will’s eyes widen and he hears Jane’s shocked gasp beside him.
Underneath the helmet, underneath all the scars and jagged lines, stares back—
“I am Michaela Childress, firstborn daughter of House Acer, Sworn Paladin to the Kingdom of Holkins, and Right Hand to the Queen Regent.” She seethes, the hard line in her jaw tightening as she glowers at Will. “The Queen Regent, whose face you have adapted as your own.”
Okay, so it’s not just him.
This woman clearly looks like Mike.
(or, the one where michaela childress is all but a lonely paladin that misses her wife so much that she risks her life, jumps into an unknown portal, and inadvertently causes distress and awakens realizations among the local populace.)

Summary
The Wheeler basement, in its best years, could more aptly be described as the first ever museum curated in the honor of Will Byers.
Of course, the same could be said for the respective bedrooms of Lucas Sinclair and Dustin Henderson, but while their displays are proud and beloved, the ones that embed themselves in the Wheeler basement are imposing, insistent. It looms over you like a warning. A threat.
Well, if you consider a pint-sized five-year-old Mike Wheeler a threat. Most don’t, some do. It’s up to interpretation.
(or, the five times mike wheeler keeps will byers' drawings, and the one time he doesn't.)

Summary
He feels especially child-like when he looks to where Mike is running and sees his sister behind the Gate.
From afar, he can’t see anything. Not truly. But he knows El. He knows his sister.
He knows what it means when she squares her shoulders. When she clenches her fists. When she holds her head high despite all the things that push it down. She’s stubborn—he knows what it means when she’s stubborn.
She gets her way.
(or, the one where jane hopper spends her last moments with her brother, will byers.)

“I wouldn’t be who I am without you… and… whatever happens next— I just need you to know that no matter what—” he said with a choked voice. “You’ll always be important to me.”
Whatever happens next... no matter what...
Will felt his soul slowly leaving his body.
Time seemed suspended, as if they were trapped in a parallel reality.
Then Will started to cry. A terrible cry, sobbing and heaving. The tears streamed down like a waterfall and he didn’t even try to stop them, he just lay there, in the arms of the man he loved and who, apparently, was preparing him for the inevitable end.
will thinks mike is preparing to leave him. mike is preparing to ask him to marry him. these turn out to be very different things, as you can imagine

We want your words to speak for themselves, so we don't inadvertently turn off potential buyers before they give the book a chance.
As he’s gotten older, Mike has gotten much better at managing and hiding his insecurities, even when the weight of daily life drags them back to the surface.
Unfortunately, it’s hard to keep his mind quiet when he’s naked on a sofa, covered in a thin sheet, and completely exposed under the adoring gaze of his husband-to-be.

Mike has a hard day, forgetting how deeply Will worships him. Luckily, Will is more than happy to remind him.Bookmarked by elsielou

Summary
Will Byers didn't expect to find a random kid at 10 am in the morning, much less one that keeps calling him "dad" to the amusement of Hopper, Jonathan, and Jane. The worst part? He doesn't know who the other parent is and Mike is NOT helping.

Summary
"Shut up," Lucas snaps, but his voice is tight, like he's distracted. "Mike, look. We have a... situation."
Mike follows their gazes and freezes. On the floor, in the exact spot where Will was sitting, is a small, fluffy brown bunny. It's sitting perfectly still, its ears twitching slightly, and it's looking up at Mike with big eyes.
For a second, his brain short-circuits. "Did... did someone bring a rabbit down here?"
"No," Dustin says slowly. "That's Will."
Mike blinks. "What."
Or: Will gets turned into a bunny, Mike can't handle how adorable he is.

Summary
“You’re insane! I can’t just write something as obvious as that. What if he figures out it’s me?”
”Um, then you get a super-cute boyfriend who you’ve been in love with for, like, as long as you’ve known him?” Vickie blinked at him, arms crossed over her lanyard. “I don’t understand the issue, why don’t you just… tell him?”
”The issue is that he could hear me, Vick.” Mike emphasised. “He could hear me, and realise I’m actually a loser, and ride away on the back of that dumb jock’s motorcycle-”
“C’mon, Mike,” Vickie interrupted his rambling with a teasing sing-song tone, bunny teeth glinting past her pink lips. “Valentines is a day for the brave. Besides, what’s the worst that could happen?”
Or, four times Mike Wheeler sends the cute art teacher a candy-gram for Valentine’s Day, and the one time he doesn’t need to.
