Summary
The architect's floor is empty, except for one person with his back half turned to him, whom Martin doesn't recognize. He's not particularly tall, Martin notes, and he's thin, but his forearms look sturdy beneath his rolled-up shirtsleeves. His messy hair is falling above his glasses as he's looking through a stack of papers, and Martin can hear him groan in despair. Another cute intern, he thinks. He looks rather lost, Martin notes. "Need any help with that, sweetheart?"
The young man's head snaps upwards, and then to the source of the compliment. He clutches the papers in his hands and removes his glasses. "What did you just say?"
"I said," Martin approaches the man slowly, "do you need help with that."
"No, I heard that part. The 'sweetheart' part is what I hoped I'd missheard."

Summary
"Any updates?" Martin croaked and graciously accepted the cup of water Jon was passing him from the bedside table.
"They're finishing up the results from the blood test just now," Jon informed him, taking back the cup after Martin was finished. "I didn't See them," he added.
"We already know what they say," Martin pointed out.
"We might not."
"Well, it can't get any worse, and it certainly can't get any better."
Jon sighed. "I know."

Summary
"Oh, are you guys going out tonight?" Eddie asks when he enters the living room. "Bev and Ben have date night so, world's best wingman, reporting for duty," he says, and does a little salute, grinning. It slowly turns into a frown when he sees Richie exchange side glances with the others. "What?"
Richie looks down, fiddling with the buttons of his coat. "Eds, it would be better if you stayed here."
"What!" Eddie exclaims, eyes wide. "Why the fuck would it be better?"
"Because I actually want to get laid tonight," Richie says. "You're my cooler, Eddie."
"What are you talking about, man? I always help you get laid."
"It's not you," Richie tries, cheeks burning as Eddie's frown becomes even deeper. "It's just the way that you behave around them, and the things you say to them, and-", he pauses, thinking. "No, actually, it is you." He sighs. "I'm sorry, Eds."

A leather coat, a last minute change of plans and a game of Truth or Dare might just be enough to change Richie and Eddie's friendship forever.

Summary
Richie can tell Eddie doesn't bite his lousy excuse, and he winces when Eddie drops the instructions on the box, frustration clear on his face. "What the fuck is wrong with you?"
"Nothing, Eddie-"
"Bullshit, just tell me what's wrong."
"Nothing," Richie insists, avoiding Eddie's eyes. "I can't be- I'm your fluffer, Eddie!"
"My what?" Eddie asks, eyes squinting. "What the fuck is a fluffer, Richie?"
"I'm your boyfriend without the rewards!" Richie shouts.

Summary
“How come you’re still awake?” Buck asks, antsy. He pulls at a loose thread inside one pocket with pinched fingers, rapidly picking apart the stitching. Better to unravel that than eight years of friendship all because said friend’s shorts have ridden up agonizingly at the thigh.
“I was waiting for you to get back. You’re kind of early, though.” Eddie’s eyes are tracked to the TV, but they dart over at Buck when he asks, “You strike out with Dixie?”
Which… Buck doesn’t even know where to start. He desperately needs to buy a vowel.
“Huh? Why—what—did I miss a text?”
Eddie, sat cross-legged on top of pearly-white cotton sheets, a vision so soft it’s making Buck dizzy, has the audacity to look puzzled. “Not from me. Why?”
or: Eddie leaves a light on for Buck.

Summary
Eddie huffs. It’s respectable and masculine, probably. “You know I’m not interested in—”
“Yes, Eddie, I know,” Buck drolls. “You’re off the horse. The meat market is closed. Your dick is on Do Not Disturb. I just think the pot shouldn’t be calling the kettle out,” he gestures between them with an emphatic finger, “for bad dates. Not when the pot is, ostensibly, a born-again virgin.”
“I’m not a born-again virgin,” Eddie grumbles. “Don’t start this again.”
“I’m not starting anything,” Buck lies. “I’m watching the movie.” Another lie. Then he flops unceremoniously back down, head strewn across Eddie’s clenched thighs.
Or: Buck’s mouth moves faster than Eddie’s brain.

Summary
This isn’t the first time something’s gone horribly, catastrophically wrong for Buck, but it’s okay. It’ll work out in the end. It always has so far.
This is just a temporary setback. He pinkie promises.
Or, Buck loses his leg, falls in love, and gets his job back. Not necessarily in that order.

Summary
Running to the frontlines from a childhood he never had. Taking a bat to the wall with his son in the next room. Having an affair with the spitting image of his dead wife.
Eddie knows he’s never been good at grieving, knows he’s never been good at losing what little he allows for himself in the first place. This is why he also knows his coping mechanisms can’t possibly get any worse.
Buck, as he so often does, makes him reevaluate his assumptions.

Summary
Buck would rather stab himself in the neck with a fork, thrice, than let Maddie and Eddie say a single word to each other.
His concern is that they will become friends. Allies. Allies United Against Buck. Comrades Who Know Too Much About Buck. A terrifying, powerful joint force that simply cannot ever exist.
He will make sure of it.
Or, so that Maddie and Eddie do not ever mingle, Buck meddles.
