    So when Adrian's team had discovered a human trapped in a submersible while surveying other planets that might need treatment with the Taumeba, he'd said yes without hesitation to looking after the man.

    “And??”

    Wordlessly, they flick a switch, and the noise is played loud enough for the entire room to hear it. 

    “Please,” a voice sobs, “Please, it hurts- I'm scared, I just- please, I just want to live. Why doesn't anyone else want that? Why can't I- I want to-” it breaks off into more sobbing and the room practically vibrates with tension. 

    “That-! That is the language spoken by Engineer Rocky's Grace! That is HUMAN language!”

    “Yes.”

    “There is a human down there?? That shouldn't be-”

    “But there is. What now?”

    An Eridian mining crew find a human welded into a stranded ship on the surface of a moon. They bring him back to Erid, to the only other human they know.

    Something in Grace's chest flickered into life. He had buried it so long ago that he hardly knew what it was anymore, and so he took off his glasses and cleaned them on the edge of his cardigan, as if Rocky's words were a smudge he could clear away before finding the will to hope.

    “Ah…” his words failed halfway out of his mouth. Rocky chittered at him, a little sound of encouragement. “There’s another human? Here. And… alive?”

    ** Work is complete but new chapters may be added if the whimsy takes me**

    Simon gets thrown into Project Hail Mary because he deserves to be taken care of after the ending in Iron Lung. (basically, in other words. Simon and Grace act stupid, made everyone in Erid their spectators of their stupidity)
