"He's always there," Hinata agreed sadly. "And something tells me he always will be."

Asking Phainon to be his plus-one is simultaneously the best and worst decision he's ever made.
For all intents and purposes, Phainon plays the part admirably— ever the performer, he knows just how to hold himself. His almost princely charm has always made him seem far more put-together than he really is.
He knows how to smile— not too wide. He knows how to laugh— not too loud.
And he knows how and when to show off the matching engagement rings on their interlaced fingers— both politely flexing the inlaid diamonds and establishing his claim on the Kremnos heir— which… Excites him more than it should. Particularly with the knowledge of what kind of person Phainon really is for him behind closed doors. Phainon hasn't let go of his hand once since they arrived at the banquet, taking up the lead when appropriate.
Mydei makes an offhanded comment about bringing Phainon along to one of his father's extravagant dinner parties, and Phainon seems a lot more enthused by the idea than he'd expected.
