Summary
'Eddie's pulse was still too fast. He should get in his truck, he should go on with his day like running into Tommy in a coffee shop after more than a year hadn’t knocked something loose in him.
Instead, he locked the phone, slid it into his pocket, picked up his coffee, and walked out. He didn’t realize until twenty minutes later, halfway across town, when the phone buzzed against his thigh and he pulled it out without thinking, that the case felt wrong in his hand.
Smooth at the corner where his was slightly cracked, and not familiar beneath his thumb. The screen lit up with a missed call from a name he didn’t recognize, and beneath it, a lock screen that wasn’t Christopher and Theo like Eddie's was, wasn’t his life at all. Just a photo of the sky taken from above the city, clouds cut gold by the sun, Los Angeles small and distant underneath.'
Or
An incident causes Eddie and Tommy to accidentally swap phones, leading to some revelations.

Summary
'Tommy yawns, and reaches to grab his bag out of the back seat before heading up their driveway and stumbling through the door. The sunlight was coming through the windows nicely, showing off the sparkling clean house, likely what Eddie had done while Tommy was on shift.
He was just about to make his way towards their bedroom when he heard an unmistakable sound. A sound he'd become intimately familiar with over the past two years.
A moan. Eddie's moan.
Tommy's eyes widened at the sound, pupils dilating slightly, as he followed where it was coming from as if in a trance. He almost fainted on the spot when he walked into the kitchen and saw what was going on.'
Or
Tommy comes home after a long shift to a sweaty and horny boyfriend.

Summary
'Tommy hesitated for half a second, then remembered. “Oh,” he said. “Right. I almost forgot.” He brought his hand out from behind his back, revealing a blue iris, the petals deep and rich, almost violet in the light.
"Another flower?" Eddie said, surprised but happy.
Tommy shrugged slightly with a smile. "You seemed to like the last one."
Eddie took it carefully, fingers brushing Tommy’s again, lingering just a second longer this time. He brought it up, inhaling lightly.
Tommy felt something in his chest tighten at the sight. Eddie Diaz, standing in his kitchen, holding a flower Tommy gave him like it actually mattered. He wasn't sure he'd ever seen a sight so beautiful before.'
Or
Tommy gives Eddie a flower every chance he gets, until he has a bouquet.

Summary
'Eddie fixed it as fast as he could, heat creeping up the back of his neck. “Look,” he said, trying to regain control of the conversation, “I’m just... busy. That’s all.”
Hen crossed her arms. “Busy with someone?”
Eddie met her eyes and held her gaze, then shrugged like it wasn’t a big deal. “Maybe.”
Hen’s expression softened slightly, not pushing as hard now, but definitely not letting it go either. “You gonna tell me who?” she asked.'
Or
Four times Eddie and Tommy almost got caught and one time they got caught by everyone.

Summary
"Right." Buck replies quickly. "So statistically speaking we’ve already talked about almost everything two people can talk about."
"Almost, but I don't think I could ever get tired of talking to you anyways." Eddie assures him, eyes shining and full of love.
Buck flushes, and can't quite find the words to respond so he just squeezes Eddie's hand.
Before he can figure out what to say, Eddie leans across the table and captures his lips in a soft kiss. Kissing Buck was addicting, to the point where Eddie felt he could spend the rest of his life doing nothing but kiss him.
"Okay," Buck says when they break apart, blush even more evident, "but I still don't know your stance on pineapple pizza."
Or
A surprising call from Eddie's sister has him realizing he knows now, what forever means.

Summary
“There’s no way you want me as much as I want you.”
Eddie scoffs. “Try me.”
“I want to, like, hold onto your ankles and never let go.”
Without missing a beat, Eddie offers: “I want to handcuff myself to you so that you can never go anywhere without me.”
Or, Buck worries about wanting too much. Eddie literally and metaphorically scoffs in his face.

Summary
Edmundo Diaz (118) vs. Thomas Kinard (217)
And it didn't help when he saw Eddie find out too, across the station and his stomach flipped when the man grinned at his phone. Not a normal grin, not a nice excited smile. No, no not at all. That's not what Buck saw on the man's face.
He looked dangerously delighted.
As if this was the best news of his life, the opportunity to fight Tommy was obviously something he was looking forward too. But it didn't feel friendly, it didn't feel like a nice fight between two people who were friends.
Or LA announces a charity boxing match and Eddie is paired against Tommy, this leads to many things Buck wasn’t expecting

Summary
Eddie huffed out a laugh. "I appreciate the concern, but I think I'd be able to handle myself against Craig, the fifty-four year old business rep who smells like ham." He said, taking a big bite of his cookie.
Hen chuckled, shaking her head. "No, I just mean, like—the Uber thing as a whole, I guess. With that ass, you could've just slapped on a pair of panties and took a couple pictures, and boom, you'd make five hundred in, I don't know, probably an hour?"
Eddie choked on his snickerdoodle.
Huh??
"Hmfp??" Eddie tried to speak through the mouthful of crumbs he had, though with the way his eyes had widened, staring at Hen as he sat stock-still, it was clear she had taken him off guard.
And she really, really had. Panties? What was she even suggesting?
OR
Buck walks into Eddie trying on panties for the first time. They both act normal about it.

Summary
“You’re cheating,” Buck accuses.
“I’m winning,” Eddie pants, looking far too smug.
“I’m—” Buck tries to tug his arms free from Eddie’s hold to no avail. How is Eddie so damn strong? “I’m letting you.”
“You’re letting me pin you down? Do you like getting your ass handed to you, Buck?”
Heat floods Buck’s gut. He does like getting his ass handed to him. Or—no, well… he likes being pinned, or thrown against walls, or–or floors. But that’s different. That’s a sex thing. This is definitely not a sex thing. This is a bro thing. They’re bro-wrestling. Bro-housing. This is the most platonic thing Buck’s done in his entire life. He doesn’t know why he’s sweating.
Channelling his inner carpet python, he gives a determined wriggle, but Eddie’s hands tighten around his wrists. The feeling sends a shock through Buck’s spinal column.
Oh no.
Eddie, breathless and beautiful above him, repeats, “Say uncle.”
Breath stuttering out of him, Buck freezes.
Use your head, Buck thinks. His dick twitches. Then, panicked, the big one.
Or: Buck and Eddie wrestle over the remote. They forget the remote.

Summary
Buck is a lot. Eddie knows Buck is a lot. Buck knows Buck is a lot.
But every single person who ever said that to Buck said it like a warning. Like a disclaimer, a heads-up, a you-should-know-what-you're-getting-into before getting too close so they can't say they weren't told.
And Eddie has never, not once, wanted Buck to be less.
The surplus, the overflow, the fourth tangent on a story that started somewhere else entirely — that's not the price of Buck. That is Buck. And more of Buck has only ever meant more to love, and Eddie spent enough years running on empty to know what it means when someone fills up every room they walk into so completely that Eddie is overflowing with it most days.
"Eddie. Are you listening?"
Eddie nods. "Gym Katie is alone at the gym and she's upset."
Buck blinks. His mouth is still open from the sentence he was about to say, his hands still mid-gesture, and he looks genuinely thrown, like he expected to catch Eddie zoning out and instead got caught himself. Caught being heard.
"You were listening," Buck says, a little breathlessly.
Eddie smiles. "I'm always listening."
