Summary
“Just because I can be really articulate and give a television interview doesn’t mean I am able to speak up when I’m emotionally distressed or threatened.”
It’s highlighted, circled heavily, bracketed, with arrows pointing at it, and Shane’s handwriting in the margins is much neater, like he really meant it.
YES.
David has to set the book down for a couple minutes and take a lap around the porch.

Welcome to my conspiracy theory that there is an alternate timeline to the Great Tuna Meltdown of October 2016. What would have happened if Shane *had* stayed the night? This is a look at the evening and morning that could have been.

Summary
“She looks so little.”
Shane frowned slightly. “Sofi?”
Ilya nodded without opening his eyes. “She’s twelve.”
The words landed strangely, not yet enough for Shane to understand and yet already enough for dread to start moving under his ribs.
Slowly, carefully, Shane said, “Okay.”
llya gave a short, shaking laugh that held no amusement in it. “Okay,” he echoed, and that one word cracked open. “She’s twelve, Shane.”
And then Shane understood.
Not all at once. Not as a sentence. More like the shape of it arriving before the details did. Twelve. Their daughter. Small in the doorway. And Ilya, who carried certain dates inside him like pieces of shrapnel.

Summary
Hayden hated the guy. Hated him.
Hated his stupid, smug smirk and the myriad of insults he threw Hayden’s way and the way he made fun of Shane like it was a funny game then looked him up and down like a piece of meat and his reputation of sleeping with everything that fucking moved and the memories of being slammed into the boards by him and quite literally everything about this Russian dickhead.
And he hated that he was now going to have to do everything in his power to learn how to tolerate Rozanov because Shane was inexplicably and hopelessly in love with him, and Shane was his brother in every fucking thing but blood, and Hayden was not going to keep being responsible for that sad puppy look on his face every time he realized how poorly they got along.
So far, Hayden sucked at it. Big time.
---
It bothers Shane that Hayden and Ilya don't get along, so Hayden is putting in the effort to try and see these redeeming qualities Shane claims the guy has. Over the years it becomes easier and easier, until one day, he realizes he doesn't have to actually try anymore.
or, 5 times Hayden realized he was starting to tolerate Ilya + 1 time they acknowledged they were actually friends now

It wasn’t that Ilya was jealous. It was just that…he sort of was.
It's finally the off-season, and Ilya cannot wait for a perfectly boring summer at the cottage with his perfectly boring husband.
Shane, however, has other ideas.
(AKA Ilya gets jealous of a plant.)
