langdon's first day back at the pitt. he's still really good at what he does, despite what half the staff might think. he gets exiled to triage. 'divine punishment', as he used to call it.
nobody notices. not a glance. not even out of pity.
robby is clearly not happy to see him back. langdon is not even sure he should be back: not when it seems like his locker is no longer his, and the eyes of a certain attending are stuck to a younger resident. a deeply oblivious younger resident who just can't read the room.
that's the problem. he recognizes all of it, the shape of a pattern, and he doesn't have the strength to unlearn it.

He takes his time changing. Slow, steady, his hands are calming down. Doesn’t feel as much like he’ll shake apart at the seams, like the sutures lines of his skull aren’t about to disconnect. He thinks it might be some sort of shock, because he knows it is unethical, the way Dr. Robby (Dr. Abbot), treats him, and he thinks that something is going to get worse in that car, on that ride, but he can’t say anything. It’d be at least moderately hypocritical, because it isn’t like he’s entirely uninterested, and it’s not like he’s said anything, or asked him to stop, and there’s the large factor of them being in charge of him.
