Summary

Another amazing caitvi au by cam, but this time solidly modern au instead of post-canon adjascent like her other fic and it's sequel.
An interesting modern exploration of impoverished and oppressed Zaun, and leaning heavy into a parentified big sister Vi in a very Fiona from (american) Shameless vibe-like way.
Plenty of angst and stress but with happy ending!

Summary
After ten years in Stillwater for a crime she didn't commit, Vi breaks herself out and goes home. Her homecoming doesn't go like she thought it would.
Two years later, she's out of control and out on the streets. She's now a champion pitfighter, a raging alcoholic, and completely on her own. Despite her family's best (and desperate) efforts to help, Vi's on a one-way track to ending up either dead or back in prison.
At the same time, Caitlyn arrives in the undercity to collect data and information for her thesis. She starts her research from a local bar called The Last Drop, which puts her right into Vi's path. Vi might have been out of her family's home for years, but she's still not going to let a topsider put them in danger.
Canon divergence (everyone lives!), enemies to lovers (barely, the lovers aspect happens fast), angst, trauma, addiction, and also fluff and humour (because these things can co-exist!)

Probably one of my absolute top favorite caitvi fics! Post-canon but au, lots of angst but there IS comfort and happy ending; for those who do prefer that like me. I'm a suckerrr for angst but I MUCH prefer there to be comfort to the hurt, at least eventually.
The exploration of the mental toll of prison and trauma in general is really interesting and realistic in this, I feel. This version of Caitlyn is also very interesting; leaning heavily into s1 Cait who wants to make things better and fix injustice etc.
This is also a COMPLETE work with a sequel that is still ongoing so if you fall in love with this universe like I did, there IS more to bite into and it will continue!
Vi's family is all alive. And in the end she gets the life she deserves ughhh it heals my little heart. I'm a sucker for angst and actual exploration of Vi's trauma and mental health but need precious baby to get help and care and be HAPPY. And she does get that in here. Spoilers by saying that i guess but it is sorta in her tags?

Ongoing sequel to the completed fic set in this post-canon au version of Arcane.
Angst still continues to occur, happily for those of us who eat that shit up, but still in the overall "happy ending" version of where the last fic (Where You Go I Go) left off and the hurt has COMFORT every time. Which hits juustt right honestly. Cait and Vi are madly, sickeningly in love and fucking adorable. Vi's family is all alive and overall her life is good and, UGH this shit just slaps ok.
