Against all reason, a laugh spill out of her. “You choose now to ask properly?”

She pushes it back down.
It floats again.
Yuu smacks a wooden paperweight on it. The letter struggles under the wooden block, corners crinkling, before slumping down defeatedly.
“Sorry about this,” Yuu mutters. “I’ll get back to you later, yeah? I just … gotta get to class now.”
The letter waves a corner at her sadly.

He was so close. His nose brushed against hers gently, and she felt the air get caught in her throat.
“No catching feelings.” He murmured, tilting his head slightly as her eyes began to flutter close.
“It’s only for science.” She breathed, just as he pressed his lips to hers.
