His body felt numb, incapable of feeling any kind of pain, as if he was suspended in reality, protected by the wave of adrenaline that was still going through his body.
“Will?”
A distorted voice reached his ears, desperately trying to break through the shock that was still gripping him entirely, as if his mind disconnected from the body.
“Yeah.” He mumbled, the sensations of the latest events still going through his head. Will’s mind was replaying the same few scenes over and over, not letting him forget how in one moment he had power over another person, entitled to decide about their faith - unstoppable, in power as God himself, only to become the hunted animal moments later.

“What happened Will? Are you in pain?” Hannibal asked, stepping out of the kitchen, stopping in front of him, worry written all over his face.
“I think it’s my cheek. It has been healing well recently, I don’t know what happened.” Will muttered, each word sending another wave of pain through him. “I’ll take painkillers. It’ll be fine. You shouldn’t worry about me, you still haven’t fully recovered yourself.”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Hannibal replied, already dismissing the idea. “I am a Doctor, after all.” He gently examined the wound, ignoring any protest.
“I doubt you still have your medical license.” Will replied, a soft smile tugging at his lips.

There was a pause, then a weak sigh. It wasn't the usual dry humour or restless energy she’d come to expect from him. This was different, he sounded sick.
“Yeah. Just… needed to hear a familiar voice.”
“Don’t move,” she said, reaching for her coat. “I’ll be there soon.”
The suitcase in her room and her plans for Christmas were forgotten beyond next seconds, even before the elevator arrived.
Scully abandons her plans to take care of sick Mulder on Christmas Eve.
