Mira was staring out the window with a grim expression, slightly rocking back and forth as she braced her hands on the edge of the car seat. Rumi subtly watched her from the corner of her eye, trying not to irritate her girlfriend more than she already was, but she was getting a little worried.
Suddenly Mira sharply inhaled, biting her bottom lip. She crossed one leg over the other, leaning back in the seat and grabbing the hem of her skirt, all while still staring out of the window.

Her back pressed uncomfortably into the sink counter, Vi’s taller form looming over her. When she’d peaked a glance up at her older sister, she found Vi’s pale grey eyes looking down at her with a frightening intensity.
If it was anyone else, she’d cower.
Instead, Powder felt her heart begin to race. Like running for her life, like preparing for a leap that was too steep— but Powder knew, as long as Vi was watching over her, it’d be ok.
Her big sister’s freckled face was blushing a pink almost similar to her messy bedhead. Her hands flexed nervously. Vi had whispered a low, “I’ll be gentle Powder, promise,” before giving one of those sweet self-assured smiles that always made Powder’s knees feel weak.
