To Edward, it was a form of blessing knowing that Oswald was in Blackgate, away from the hellish torture of the Asylum.
Yes, he and Oswald were separated, unsurprisingly. But Edward would rather have Oswald just that little bit safer in a prison away from him, than be treated like a lab rat or circus act where Edward would most likely be punished for trying to protect him.

It was no surprise to either of them that they had found the fake reassurance of comfort and intimacy with each other, even if it were only for a few hours every other night.

Shane's breath catches on a sob, and he muffles the sound with his hand. Everything feels like too much. He’s naked, and he can feel entirely too much on his body, inside his body, and he hates how it's starting to feel gross. His head is pounding, and he can't even focus on placating his mind when his lungs are also screaming in his throat for breath.
Ilya hears, and his hands reach out to hold Shane, tension lying in every part of his body. “Shane—”
“Don't touch me,” Shane snaps, more desperation than yelling as he rips his arm out of Ilyas's grasp. His tears have nowhere to go now, and they finally spill over, hot and humiliating, down his cheeks.
Ilya freezes in place, hand hovering mid-air. A myriad of emotions flicker across his face: confusion, hurt, fear. Ilya takes an unconscious step back like someone shoved him. His body curls in on itself, trying to make himself appear smaller.
He looks... terrified. Like, Shane just called him a monster, and he believes it.
OR: inspired by the fight in the long game when ilya had told shane he could have sex with other men because he did not believe in cheating.

It's not really his fault--babysitter #1 told him he had too many dogs, babysitter #5 almost burned his house down, and babysitter #12 1/2 was just a flat-out creep. And it certainly doesn't help that everyone in his small town keeps telling him he'd be better off if he just quit his band and found a good wife. Still, Frank Iero will persevere, because that's just what Frank Iero does.
Frank Iero barely trusts anyone, and he definitely doesn't want to trust the new, maybe-a-little-adorable babysitter #13, but he soon finds out that it's going to be a lot harder than he bargained for.

There was some shuffling from a few rooms away, and just as Frankie had finished putting all of the groceries up, Gee was coming down the hall, lighter in hand and an unnerved look on her face.
“The power went out,” she said.
Frankie bit back a teasing Oh, really? because she knew Gee was scared half to death of the dark. “Yeah, it’s pretty bad out there. Fingers crossed it’ll come back on soon, right?”
