„The law of gravity still held. The law of celestial motion still held. Only the laws he had built his life upon had crumbled, and he was drowning in the rubble.“

Summary
Curse him. Curse his name and this supposed gift he’d given of life. Even Javert’s final thought, submerged willfully in the cold waters of the Seine, was littered with the remnants of Jean Valjean. Let him be free. Let the water wash away the curse inflicted on his soul. Let him die now, too tormented to wait in agony for a natural death, even if it meant the remainder of his soul would go to Lucifer’s domain. Let his eternal life be one of misery, as he deserved. Perhaps Valjean would meet him there, but Javert did not think it so.
Rescued from the Seine by a determinably anonymous benefactor, Inspector Javert struggles to cope with the consequences of being left alive.

Summary
That child stepped to the side, allowing another student to come beside him to stare the inspector down. If these boys wished to throw a tantrum and take it out upon Javert, so be it. He would end up dead come dawn regardless. They’d all be dead too, but if they realised- or cared- they did not let it show.
The old man’s glowering seemed to have egged the two on, and the red haired fellow took his ‘turn’ so to speak.
---Javert is captured at the barricade, and Gavroche is killed by the national guard. The spy becomes quite an entertaining punching bag to some grieving students. He then has a much awaited confrontation with his convict.
Some Valvert barricade whump/smut >:33 !
