“He's not leaving,” Thanatos bites back. “There's nowhere to go.”
Ah, the words of a god. To Achilles’ once-mortal eyes, there are cracks and open windows and doors with just the right key and escape routes aplenty from the House. “So you'd think. I guess wherever he goes, you'll be seeing him either way.”
Thanatos turns to him and it's as if this had never occurred to him. “What do you mean?”
“Didn't you tell him? It's a hard world out there. I’m sure he'll find out, and I don't know anything that can bleed that doesn't wash up here eventually.”

Thanatos learns nothing until his next visit to the House of Hades, nearly three surface days later, when he hears a passing shade wail of how he had been killed by Zagreus. The shade and his brethren had been sent by Lord Hades to hunt down his son, now rampaging through Tartarus in a futile bid to leave the underworld behind.

Summary
When Geralt of Rivia and Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy meet, neither man knows that the course of his life will be radically altered because of the other. After the mysterious barber-surgeon saves his life, the witcher is intrigued by Regis. But when Geralt discovers Regis’ secret, he feels hurt and betrayed by the higher vampire, as well as angry.
