Will's heart hammered painfully in his chest, and he had to take a second to remind himself that no, it wasn’t a demogorgon loping out of the woods to snatch him away, and no, it wasn’t a giant killing machine descending to rip the roof off and drag them out to die, one by one. Returning cars didn’t tend to clatter either.
Which only left…“For fuck’s sake, Mike!"'Their graduation D&D game has been concluded. Stories have been spun. Lasagna has been consumed. As it turns out, so has wine - by Mike, anyway. Will's home alone at the cabin, pondering his options for the night (mostly involving his right hand), when his drunken best friend arrives with a clatter, very much the worse for wear in every sense. He's going to need comfort, conversation, company and care - but might just offer up a teeny weeny life changing confession along the way?

“Okay!” Will cut her off, embarrassed beyond belief. “Sure. Fine. Jesus. I don’t know! It’s not like that, though.”
The thing was, he had sort of noticed it too. But he’d thought it was just the world sliding back to place, righting itself as Mike began acting like he did back when they were kids, back when he was Mike’s favorite. This was how things used to be. This was how Will liked it, anyways—Mike’s undivided attention.
“It doesn’t have to mean anything,” Will whispered. He thought, well, maybe he didn’t notice anything because he didn’t want to.
“He’s sweet on you, though,” Jane said.

Summary
Will Byers loves Mike Wheeler.
It shouldn’t be a big deal. Of course he loves Mike. He always has. But it’s never felt like this. It’s never hurt to think about it, but it also never felt like a revelation rather than a fact. It hurts, and there’s nothing he can do to ease the pain. He looks across the room at Mike and all he sees is beauty where minutes ago he only saw his best friend. He notices entire constellations in the freckles strewn across his nose, stars glittering in his eyes, and it all seems inevitable. He loves Mike. He loves him and it’s a foregone conclusion, a wish on a shooting star destined to burn out. He loves him and he can’t ever have him, not in that way, and there’s nothing in the world that can ever hurt him again quite like this.
OR: When the party dares Mike to tell someone he loves them for one hundred days, Will doesn't expect to be the unlucky recipient. He definitely doesn't expect it to consume his last three months in Hawkins. But like most things in his life, absolutely nothing goes to plan.

“No!” Mike exclaimed, “Holly, I’m not marrying him!”
“Why?” Holly whined, as Mike tried to walk away. She threw both arms around his legs and sank to the floor, sitting on his feet so that it was extremely difficult to walk.
“Because,” said Mike, trying to free himself from her grip by shaking his legs. She only held on tighter.
“But he’s so amazing,” said Holly, as Mike shuffled his feet slowly when he realised she would not be relinquishing her hold on him anytime soon. He dragged her into the hallway so he could put on his coat. “He’s the best, most incrediblest, most fantastic babysitter in the whole world! You should marry him!”
Or; Will Byers, well-known as an outcasted freak at Hawkins High, is Holly Wheeler’s babysitter, and perhaps the loveliest person Mike has ever met.
