Summary
Shane skated away, his shoulders slumping, realizing he had arrived too late.
Ilya had already found his place among the older, objectively “cooler” boys. He knew this feeling all too well. No matter how hard he tried to belong, he always seemed to be the one left out, an overly excited, obnoxious nuisance.
Dejected, he made his way to the right side of the rink, where his mom had said she’d be if he needed anything. Reaching the barrier, he opened the small gate and sat down on the bench, his hockey stick clattering dramatically beside him. Struggling to get a grip on his laces through his reinforced gloves.The excitement had already melted away, now he just wanted to see his mom and maybe have a cup of warm chamomile tea to cheer him up. Directing his gaze back down at his half-untied skate.
A cold spray of ice hit his face. Shane squeezed his eyes shut, trying to escape the sting of the particles.“Ух ты, Shane! You are here!”

"I was so horny all night," he whispered. "And there were all these beautiful women around me. I was trying so hard, Shane. I'm like a dog. One of them even flirted with me, and I had no choice but to give in, Shane. I was so, so, so horny."
Shane went rigid.
For a moment, nothing. Then he moved, fast, flipping around and straddling Ilya in one motion, his palm clamping around Ilya's jaw, fingers pressing hard enough to hurt.
"Are you fucking serious?" Shane's voice was low, furious, his eyes blazing in the dark. "You really are just a horny mutt. And then you come back here, wake me up, and demand sex? You're lucky I even let you in. You're so fucking rude. I'm not sure I'll even let you touch me."
Ilya's breath hitched, his heart hammering against his ribs. This was what he wanted, but Shane's anger was sharper than he'd expected, cutting through the alcohol haze with sudden clarity.

Ilya’s thumb pressed experimentally against the tense muscle and Shane whined sharply before he could stop himself.
Both of them froze, the room went dead quiet
Ilya looked up instantly.
And there it was again, that unbearable eye contact that always felt like being pinned beneath something massive and dangerous.
“That hurts?” Ilya asked quietly.
Shane’s brain supplied several horrific answers all at once. “Uh,” he managed intelligently.
Ilya’s hand remained steady on his shoulder, warm even through the fabric.
“Shane.”
The use of his first name nearly killed him on impact.
“Yeah,” Shane said hoarsely. “A little.”
Ilya stared at him another second too long.
Then his fingers flexed once against Shane’s shoulder, absentmindedly soothing over the muscle.
Shane’s heart nearly punched through his ribcage. Because this—this was the problem.
Ilya always touched him like he already belonged to him.
Casual. Instinctive. Possessive in ways that probably meant absolutely nothing.

“Important conversation,” Ilya murmured, not pulling back far.
“What conversation?”
“This one.” Ilya whispered, followed by another peck.
Shane shook his head, but he was smiling, eyes soft in a way that made something in Ilya’s chest ache. “You’re not even trying to be subtle.”
“Why would I be subtle?” Ilya said. “I am married man now. I can do whatever I want.”Or: It´s Ilya´s and Shane´s first time at the cottage as a married couple, and Ilya starts spiraling (give this boy some lexapro i beg)

Then, a flicker of blonde, a flash of familiar confidence cutting through the blur. His attention fixed, and he watched as Rose approached, her stride easy, the suggestion of amusement in every step. He smirked, mostly to himself.
“…Oh.” he murmured under his breath.
Rose stopped in front of him, her smile wide and bright, as if she’d just stumbled onto the best joke of the night.
“Well. This is fun.” she announced, a hint of mischief in her eyes.
Ilya tilted his head, cutting straight through the pretense. “You.”
Her laughter was immediate, genuine. “Wow. Strong start.”
He shrugged, unbothered. “It’s accurate, I think.” he said jokingly.
She grinned. “I was expecting at least a ‘hello.’”
Ilya’s lips quirked. “Would be boring no?”
“Fair.” she conceded, the banter already a dance.
A brief silence fell, comfortably suspended between them.
“So Svet is not here huh?” Ilya observed.
“Nope.”
“And you’re not where you’re supposed to be.”
“Debatable.” Rose shot back, unflappable.
