Ilya Rozanov thinks it's probably best to decline the invitation to the 2017 All-Star Game. It's not swaggering, knothead alpha male bullshit; it's a survival strategy. He doesn't think it'll end well for anyone if he's forced into playing an instinct-driven, blood-pumping sport like ice hockey with Shane Hollander right now, not when Hollander is probably going to bring his new girlfriend to Tampa for the weekend.
But it's Hollander. It's Shane. So of course Ilya doesn't decline the stupid invitation. And of course the game goes sideways.
That doesn't mean it doesn't end well.

"I don't know about that." Louis moves his arm forward, makes the presence of the barrel of the gun fit snugly to Harry's hip. "I think we just play differently."
"You going to shoot me?" Harry asks, those wild eyes tracking over Louis' face. "Do it."
"I think I've put enough scars on you," Louis answers, means it about the stretch marks still lining the sides of Harry's stomach, but it lands a little too raw. There are other scars on Harry's body that Louis blames himself for, scars inside too.

“I overheard Smith today while he was sitting on his patio... clearly unaware of his surroundings.”
That has Harry bring all his attention back to Louis, not sure where this is heading. He waits for him to continue, scrub daddy in one hand, dirty plate in another, he slowly starts scrubbing the dish.
“He likes to ogle us, specifically you.” Louis starts, his tone terrifyingly cold.
“What?” Harry’s jaw drops and so does the plate in his hand.

Barrister Louis overhears his neighbour making explicit comments about his husband, Professor Harry. Fueled by a mix of anger and protectiveness, Louis decides to confront the neighbour, but not before he passionately reminds Harry who he belongs to.

The low rumble of the kettle boiling sounds just as the person shifts his broad shoulders around to face Louis, his scent hitting the omega like a hurricane wind, knocking his heart into his stomach. Cedarwood and bergamot are about as unbearably familiar as the face of the alpha he’s loved for almost two decades — his floppy curls chopped short and all the extra chub around his cheeks gone, leaving behind a defined jaw and sharp nose.
His eyes begin watering before he can stop it, voice shaking as he says, “Harry?”
Louis’ dying, he must be. His whole life with Harry is flashing in memories right before his eyes as one corner of the alpha’s lips turn up into that lopsided smile Louis has missed.
“Hi, pup,” his mellifluous and smooth voice has the omega’s body going slack.
