Summary
The Ark was a relic from the past. The events that happened aboard the space colony tended to disagree with that statement, refusing to be forgotten from his hardened mind. He’s been hiding it all for years, keeping it all bottled up next to his bruised and broken heart. Trying to be normal despite himself, and failing miserably in the process.
Things are changing. Suddenly thrust into confronting his memories head on, Shadow must learn to live above his past and eventually, live for the future.
The Ark was a relic from the past.
Shadow refused to be one, too.

“Is there something else I could assist you with this time, Professor?” Shadow asks, looking up at him.
That same, inexplicable flash of warmth slithers down Gerald’s spine. The words are innocuous enough. A part of him is surprised Shadow doesn't want to return to Maria's quarters as usual.
However Gerald also can't deny that Shadow's help in the lab has been more than invaluable, particularly when he needs a helping hand with experiments he would rather not endanger his students or assistants with. Shadow is far sturdier than any of them. His ability to heal is something he still silently preens at; everything about Shadow is exactly as intended.
