Summary
“It’s all smoothie recipes,” Lenora explains. “But then you look closer and there’s blood in all of them. It’s so strange, do you remember where you got it?”
Of course, he’s on the precipice of a crisis and his youngest thinks this is some weird, vintage curio trinket from the 1980s.
Two weeks. He leaves the country for two weeks and his ex-wife passes away.
________________________________________
Or, Daniel returns from Dubai to find that his late ex-wife has left him a box of his old things. As he picks his way through its contents and six days in San Fransisco begin to look more like years across the globe, Daniel is faced with the fact that his turning was far from an act of vengeance.

Summary
[Time passes oddly. Between one second and the next, Sokka has the Fire Lord pinned to the wall with his hands around the bastard’s throat. Golden eyes (one gold eye, his mind whispers) widen in shock.
“Sokka?” he chokes out. And then he smiles.
What the fuck?
“Sokka, I—”
Sokka slams his head against the wall, once, twice, and the smile wipes off his face. Good.
“What,” Sokka bites out, “have you done to my sister?”]
Or:
An injury leaves Sokka with amnesia. His last memory is of the failed invasion, of leaving his father behind in enemy territory on the Day of Black Sun. Of hopelessness. Rage.
But then he wakes up, and the war is over. Suddenly, he must come to terms with the fact that years have passed, and that he's somehow the Southern Water Tribe Ambassador to the Fire Nation. He is also supposedly friends with banished-Prince-turned-Fire-Lord Zuko, of all people. Close friends.
Yeah, nah.

Summary
"Didn’t make any friends during orientation?”
She laughed- then stopped abruptly because that was actually not a joke. “Um…no. I don’t make friends easily.”
She waited for him to look at her with pity, or offer false reassurances. He looked mildly contemplative instead. “I think most people’s ‘friends’ are actually just acquaintances, anyway.”
Mel blinked. “You think so?”
“It’s important to remember that most people are bullshitting you like…at least sixty percent of the time.”
Mel wasn’t sure if this extended to him. If it did, would he tell her? Probably not.

Summary
“What am I supposed to do for 10 days?” She looks genuinely dumbfounded.
“I don’t know, read a book, get on a plane, go to Alaska. Whatever you want, as long as it happens at least 500 yards away from this hospital. I mean it, Samira.”
She presses her lips together into a thin line. He shakes his head in disbelief.
“You’re worse than Abbot, you know?”
“What do you mean?”
“He threw a temper tantrum about the sabbatical—”
“You’re sending him on vacation, too?”
––––––––
or, Samira (begrudgingly) takes 10 days off. Jack's there, too.
