Summary
It starts off innocently enough, really.
Just Eddie digging his fingers in where they don't fucking belong, thinking he can rile Billy up if he's coy enough.
(He can, but that's irrelevant.)
And in the same tone of voice that Eddie always tells him, “It's okay to want things, baby,” he says, “It is fucked up, but that's why it's fun.”

Summary
At first, it’s subtle. It’s a toothpick or a straw, and then it’s a fingernail he’s not biting off, just chewing on. Then a pencil, then his necklace.
Gum.
It's subtle.

Summary
Steve doesn’t think he’ll ever get the sickly metallic smell of blood out of his nose.
No, really, he feels like it’ll never come out of his skin or out from under his nails or out of his clothes. He feels like it’ll just haunt him for the rest of his life, drift like cartoon stink lines behind him, acting as the worst shadow a person could have.
He also doesn’t think he’ll get rid of the image of Billy pushing his own intestines back into his body, holding them in place with slippery, shiny hands. And he was still trying to forget about those demon dogs and that thing at the Byers’ house that night, forgetting the smell of dead animal and the feeling of slimy, mucousy spit and alien chirping noises. So now, his nightmares are oil-slick with Billy’s blood, and echoing with the sounds of his death rattle.

Summary
Billy laughs a little louder, tosses his head back and everything. “So,” he starts, shaking his head, “you don't question Jim Hopper getting his dick wet with a guy, but you question me?”
And Steve’s whole neck flushes, mouth going wide and brows furrowing in confusion while he stutters around an answer. “I mean,” and he licks his lips, “I guess I just…didn't really think about it. I thought maybe Hopper and Mrs. Byers might end up together one day, but– but I didn't think about it, really. About who he might– might like being with, I mean.”
Billy hums. Mulls over what Steve just said as if it makes any sense at all. It doesn't, really, because, “So you thought about who I might like being with, huh?”

Summary
There’s something to be said for Billy’s perseverance.
If anything, the boy’s got enough bullheaded stamina in him to rival the best. Jim should know, he’s been at the forefront of Billy’s persistence for nearly a year, now. It’s not flattering, maybe, the way he and Billy have fallen into this cat and mouse game of Billy barely telling him what he wants and Jim piecing it together enough to give it to him.
