It's not as if Yi Sang did not know Heathcliff was beautiful. The extent of his beauty, however, has become apparent to him; Heathcliff has always been gruff, and prickly, and hard to approach, but Yi Sang has – with care and gentleness, like a lover – unraveled the skin beneath Heathcliff’s meat.
