“You’re so cool though!” Ryusei trots after him when Sae deemed this conversation to be over. “You’re always so pretty and thorough! You’d make the perfect mate! My mate, yeah?”
“Ryusei, we’ve been through this already,” Sae tells him and takes out the broom from the closet. “You’re a beta. And too young to be marrying anybody.”
“So if I’m older, you will give me a chance?” he asks so full of hope the instant No Sae was about to shoot out dies on the tip of his tongue.
“Sure, why not,” Sae finally replies to make Ryusei stop asking once and for all. The kid will come around to understand eventually, will come to realize that a partner of his own secondary gender is much more desirable than a supposedly good-looking maid who works for his parents. “If you excuse me,” he says as he leaves a gaping Ryusei standing in the hallway.
Oh, Sae had absolutely no clue what he had promised there.
or: sae promised a thirteen-year-old ryusei he'd give him a chance once he's grown up. five years later, a determined alpha returns to him with the intention to make sae his wife.

“I really like you, Sae-chan. Like, really. I like you so much.”
Sae freezes.
He tries to play it cool.
“And? What are you going to do about it?”
Or, Shidou moves in, and Sae goes through the motions.
