Summary
Six years after the war’s beginning, Vlaakith falls to Orpheus's forces. Lae’zel is gravely injured during the last battle at Tu’narath. She awakens in Faerûn once again: this time in the safety of Shadowheart’s cottage, where she is commanded to stay until her wounds heal. Initially frustrated by this new temporary station, she finds there is much to discover and rediscover with Shadowheart, about them, and about herself; there is peace to be found, and choices to be made, in a life that is less determinate than they'd thought.

After the war, Rhea publicly resigns from her position of Archbishop. More privately, she decides to retire to Zanado alone, intending to visit a few sentimental places in northern Fódlan on her roundabout way there.

“Okay, fine.” He digs into the backseat for a roll of duct tape and proceeds to wrap numerous rings around the width of the casket. “If he takes a tumble, he can’t fall out.”
