The fire returns on his tongue. He spits anger at the Avatar, because anger is the only thing he’s ever known, or maybe it’s the only thing he remembers, the only thing he’s ever been taught, because firebending may come from the breath but it has only ever been red-hot and mad. Things got better between all of them, and each number grew closer to one another.
