Summary
Look, Ravi’s heard everything there is to hear, okay? A shift is… something. When he first joined the 118, it was told to him like a joke, like a curse. "Oh, be careful if you get assigned A shift! You’ll get rebar through the head, or trapped down a well! Haha!"
Well. It wasn’t really a joke to Ravi, not really. Not now. Not when he got close to the team, when they went from strangers to colleagues to just… more. When it became looking at baby pictures and talking about college funds and asking about how his parents are doing and if they’re still planning to come visit for his birthday and –
Yeah. Ravi's glad he got mixed up in this weird little group.
But the curse, well. The others weren’t exactly wrong about that part. And maybe Ravi was a little naïve to think it wouldn’t catch up to him eventually, sure. But –
“Ravi!” Bobby yelled, as Ravi gets punched in the face.
***
Ravi gains a concussion, a bunch of blankets, and a reminder about his place in the 118.

Summary
The top of the train creaks again, loud and threatening. Some gravel rains down, clanking lightly on his helmet as it clatters to the ground.
“Rav,” Buck turns to say, his voice laced with worry. “Let’s pick up the pace.”
Ravi looks up at him, his leg mid-motion getting ready to step out from behind the concrete pillar. He opens his mouth to say something to Buck, but he doesn’t get the chance to. The top of the train groans one last time before it comes crashing down.
Buck is knocked off his feet, flung back from the sheer force of all the debris tumbling down around him. His head smacks hard against the ground, rattling around in his helmet. Dust fills his vision, crawls up down his throat and nose. It chokes him.
For a second, the world is silent.
Complete and utter silence.

Summary
The shot echoed through the corridor.
Glass burst inward. He instinctively twisted away, but not in time.
Ravi heard it before he felt it.
A deafening crack. Then a burst of heat? Followed by blinding, white-hot pain that ripped through his left upper arm. He twisted further as his body stopped working properly all at once. His hand slipped from the door and he hit the floor hard as a strangled noise tore out of him.
Oh, shit.
Oh, shit, I’ve been shot.

Summary
He had asked Buck to the bar tonight to put all his feelings and worries on the table, but also so the man could provide him with a distraction. He had not expected this kind of distraction, but oh was it the kind he had desired for a long time.
A tongue slipped past his teeth, exploring him thoroughly as Ravi continued to lightly tug at the curls wrapped around his fingers. Who needed air when you could have a Buck trying to devour you whole? It was dizzying, to be claimed so deeply. He could easily get addicted to this sensation. But then the other pulled away - with a whine he tried to follow him, missing the warmth.
