Post-fall, Will and Hannibal are navigating the unfamiliar terrain of their new lives together when Hannibal experiences sudden kidney failure. When Will offers to give Hannibal one of his own kidneys, tests reveal more than just Will’s eligibility as a donor: Will is Hannibal’s biological son.
When Will learns the truth, it's not the knowledge itself that horrifies him the most— it's the fact that unlike himself, Hannibal is thrilled.
As Hannibal continues to press the boundaries of their intimacy with renewed enthusiasm, Will gets to grapple with brand new horrific Freudian quandaries on top of all of the other bullshit he’s already working through. What Hannibal wants is for Will to let go of shame and embrace every sordid, animal desire he’s ever had. What Will wants is, well, hard to parse out from what Hannibal wants these days.

Summary
When Will wakes, there’s nothing left for him. He’s unable to speak and his body is in pieces. There’s a touch that tells him one thing. Hannibal is there.
Sometimes being with someone weighs heavier than their absence. Sometimes you just want to stay down in the depths, but if Will knows anything for certain, it's that most things end where they start. And that he has no choice but to ball his fists, cuss himself out, follow suit and hold on tight.

After the fall Will and Hannibal end up in an isolated shack in Nova Scotia. Their relationship evolves with every place they move to. They push past pain killers, close proximity, bad dreams, curtainless windows and dead memories. Past is past, they can only keep going.

Summary
When Will initially declares that he would not leave the country without the dog, Hannibal briefly wonders if falling from a cliffside had made all of the man’s profiling and forensic knowledge fall clear out his ears. Hannibal doesn’t quite ask if Will is serious. It is obvious that he very much is.
“Only the one?” asks Hannibal mildly, pressing a square of iodine-soaked gauze to his gut wound to clean the stitches.

Hannibal unintentionally learns how to share, and against his will, how to grieve. A gentle post-Season 3 look at falling in love and losing again.

Summary
The first time Will tells anyone how many dogs he has - five at the time - they don’t take long to question if he knows what he’s doing. Will is accustomed to this. He doesn’t think there’s been a single moment in his life since graduating high school that he hasn’t had to field questions in some variation on this theme.
