Desperate for a distraction, he brings the whiskey to his lips and downs it in one go, savoring the burn that cuts through the fog in his mind. He sets the glass down, only to realize with a jolt that he had aligned his mouth perfectly with the phantom print of Chenle’s. A cold spike of adrenaline shoots through him at the realization.
He isn’t sure if it was a subconscious pull toward the forbidden or a total collapse of his single-minded focus, but the realization leaves him breathless.
