Summary
Maybe it was the hollow reflections flickering against his rectangular frames that made Julie think differently of Gideon Graves that night. Maybe it was the way she looked at him then, sparks flying between them, expecting from him something more. Maybe it was the way his palm sprawled out on the couch cushions casually found itself wandering up her thigh, and she ended up smacking him real tough and rough on his bare wrist, telling him straight to his scrawny face that he should keep his hands to himself or else he'd find himself in hell. Gordon Goose gave her a mocking smile to show for it, all smug, saying that he'd rather "find himself in hell" right about now than to be forever stuck in excruciating uncertainty just to find out.
Julie thought that a kiss ought to shut him up.
And oh boy was she wrong.
