One by one, the Queen and the heir witnessed the jousts with the pressure breathing on their necks. It was the phantom of the dragon that never hatched; its spectral, cold breath was the shiver that ran down their spines whenever Aerion acted out.
“Your brother is dangerous. Entertaining his desires will do no good to our cause or to you as an heir.” The disappointment on her eyes made Jacaerys wish to be the one knight on the field right now, a green boy on his first joust bleeding under a Targaryen’s wrath instead of his burning desire.
He hated himself even further, for how much he enjoyed being lit.
