Summary
Mu Qing is dying.
Two years after he almost lost life, limb, and pride at Mount Tonglu, the god of the Southwest is standing face-to-face with his own mortality yet again. But this time, not even the people he cares for can save him from a sick core. He has one year (maybe) and a god's worth of loose ends to tie before the end.

Summary
Unrest along the shared border between the southern regions forces begrudging collaboration between the Palaces of Xuan Zhen and Nan Yang—often to disastrous effect. Mu Qing decides to disguise himself as a junior official to intervene in these joint missions to keep hostilities under control, but his clever scheme—and his whole godhood itself—could all go to ruin in the wake of one irritating—and irritatingly charming—obstacle: Nan Feng.
Or: Nan Feng falls in love with Fu Yao, and maybe Fu Yao falls a little in love back. But Fu Yao doesn’t exist, and Mu Qing’s pursuit of the affection he’s yearned for all these centuries—and never been able to have from Feng Xin—could be what finally precipitates his fall from the Heavens.
