Summary
What Iceman doesn’t—can’t—understand is that the rules were made to hurt people like Maverick that he’s had to fight for everything he has. So fuck the rules. If anyone is going to find out about him Iceman is the worst possible option. So of course he has to get hit by a car while arguing with the man.
What Maverick doesn’t—can’t—understand is that Ice has to follow the rules he can’t afford to be looked into, to be caught. He sees the car long before the arrogant little bastard that is Maverick does. It would be easier for him to just let Maverick get hit but he can’t. He tries to get Maverick out of the way but it’s no use. So now he’s got an injured Maverick who’s adamantly refusing medical help for some god dam reason on his hands.
