Summary
Ray Garraty has a purpose.
Except purpose is heavy, and resting on too-tired shoulders, jolting down to aching knees before landing on his broken and bloody feet. He didn’t have hope for humanity. He’d seen his father shot dead in the street for all of his neighbors and a fucked up God to see, and he’d seen the world keep spinning. He’d seen his neighbors in the following days, weeks and months live their lives like the loss of one of the few good men in this country was just another Tuesday. A sacrifice towards keeping America great; free, from the dangerous thoughts that a better world might exist somewhere. Ray, still embittered, has started to understand them a bit more every time McVries looks at him.
