“Car, please. I need to see your eyes.”
Finally, she lifts her head, hair falling back onto her face, sticking to the faint line of fresh tears trailing down her cheek.
“Do you trust me? Honestly, for sure, do you trust me?"
Carson gives the slightest of nods. Greta doesn’t say anything, nor does she do anything. She simply waits. She waits for Carson to speak up, to use the voice she so rarely gets the chance to.
She takes the hint, her voice quavering, but audible. “I trust you, Greta. Honest.”
Greta lifts one hand, delicately tucking the wet piece of hair back behind a red-hot ear. “There you are, little one. Now…come here.”Series

A weight fell across her eyelids and she could feel herself drifting off in the comfort of the stranger’s arms.

After Dana is forced to break up with Greta by her parents, Greta is sent into a downward spiral. When she eventually ends up at the emergency department waiting for a mental health assessment, she is left alone for several hours. Only a stranger, in for a dislocated ankle, sits with her to make sure she is okay.1 year later, Greta wants to get in touch with the stranger who showed her kindness, leading her to finally meet Carson. Unbeknownst to her, this is also the catalyst she so desperately needs to heal from her past trauma.
