Summary
The first night that Buck slips back into Eddie’s bedroom after relegating himself to the couch, he piles a pillow barrier between them to protect their dignity, and after five hundred and seventy-one clicks of the ceiling fan, Eddie finally breaks the silence.
“I’m here,” he murmurs. “You can talk to me, or not, but I am here. And I’m not going anywhere.”
Buck bites his lip until it bleeds.
Or, all the small, mundane ways Buck and Eddie love each other anyway: like before, like always.

“Oh my God,” Eddie says, folding over in a fit of laughter. “Is this– is this your football jersey from college?” He doubles over in laughter again, the jersey hanging precariously from his fingertips.
“Yes,” Buck hisses as he snatches the jersey out of Eddie’s hands, his cheeks burning crimson.
“C’mon, you have to try it on for me, sweetheart,” Eddie replies after catching his breath. His hands sit on his hips, and Buck has to blink his eyes back into focus—away from the thoughts of the bite marks hidden underneath Eddie’s waistband from the night before. “Gimme a twirl,” Eddie adds as Buck looks at him blankly.
Or, Buck has some memorabilia, and Eddie discovers a new kink.

Summary
Warmth permeates the thin undershirt he threw on after his shower. Eddie.
At the top of the stairs, Buck and Eddie stand shoulder-to-shoulder like always, the way their bodies naturally draw to each other every time. It soothes something deep under Buck’s skin that despite all the day has thrown at them, at least this doesn’t change.
And then, Eddie loops his pinky through Buck’s.
