Summary
Lan Zhan is the consummate noble, devoted to his family and clan and keeping their world safe from the Excrucians who sought the end of all things. Far better to keep these inconvenient desires to himself than to see the cautious distance in Lan Zhan's eyes as he reminded Wei Wuxian of his duty, of both their duties. He would almost certainly stop seeking Wei Wuxian's bed. He wouldn't withhold his friendship, Wei Wuxian is sure of that because Lan Zhan is not cruel, but it wouldn't be the same. Surely it wouldn't remain so warm and easy and good. Wei Wuxian is usually willing to take chances but some things are far too important to risk.
Wei Wuxian is doing his best to keep the world safe and his heart in one piece but when Lan Wangji is in danger and his secrets come to light, he has to take a leap of faith.
