Majima didn’t think anyone had ever been so careful with him, so gentle. He wanted to tell her it wasn't necessary, except that maybe…maybe it was. Maybe just this once he didn’t need to posture. Maybe it was safe for him here, in this tiny quiet space, with her. Maybe here he can shed the layers of obligation, obedience, and violence. He wants that. He wants to be just as careful, as gentle with her. But also he wants her.

Tall tales to scare new recruits into keeping in line. That is, until it happened to them. Until they watched their own irezumi morph and stretch, marring their skin with scars in the shapes of vibrant blooms and swirling clouds. Most were smart enough not to repeat their transgressions after that.
