Summary
“Who’s there?” He dares to ask, hating how small his voice sounds.
“Robert, it’s me, mate. It’s Mack.”
Robert frowns. “Am I in London?”
Mack lets out a sound that’s somewhere between a laugh and a sob, strangled like he’s holding himself back from breaking down. “No, mate. We’re in your brother’s secret underground hellhole.”

It's over.
John is gone for good, Aaron lived to tell the tale, and now he's doing his best to get on with his life and learn how to trust himself again.
This mostly consists of moving into a houseshare with his best friend and figuring out how to date his ex-husband.

Summary
Okay, so here’s the thing —
Aaron Dingle is an idiot.
Which, yeah, he’d sort of known that in the general sense of the word, but it’s one thing to be the ‘take the wrap for my best friend / the guy I’m lusting after then bunk off to France with a virtual stranger’ sort of idiot and quite another to be the ‘tied to a chair by my husband in a hostage negotiation’ sort.

Summary
“Tell me, is marital bliss complete silence and no eye contact?” Robert takes a sip of his drink and delights in that angry flush becoming darker, spreading its way down John's neck.
“You wouldn't know. I'm married to Aaron, aren't I?” John shoots back weakly, if Robert says so himself.
Which he does. John may have the better life at the moment – a steady job, a flat, the acceptance of their peers, Aaron, but no one has verbal sparring down better than Robert Sugden, and he's relishing in watching his brother find this out in real time. It's the most entertainment he's had in weeks.
Robert lets out a low whistle. “If that's what your marriage is like, I feel sorry for both of ya.”
Or: Robert has a terrible, horrible, no-good, my-brother-is-actually-psychotic-and-my-ex-is-in-danger, very bad day.
