Summary
The silence is shattered by a smirk overtaking Tim’s expression. His face is vicious with it, yet he still doesn’t look at Dick. He pulls the almost dead cigarette back to his lips, laughing out, “You’re gonna die a paranoid bastard, ya know that?” The slight drawl, picked up from too many hours on Jason’s ratty couch, talking until their pasts seemed irrelevant, slips through Tim’s teeth like he’s always had it. Dick wishes he could pinpoint when Tim’s anger started sounding exactly like Jason’s.
And God, does his brother manage to strike right to where it hurts most. “Tim just—just leave it, please,” he asks, trying to do anything in his power to convince Tim not to continue. Dick can’t talk about this, he can’t find it in himself to confront the reality of his upbringing.
Tim huffs at him, smoke blowing out his nose. “You can’t change yourself, for God’s sake,” he scowls, “You’re goin’ to die paranoid, Dick, or you’re goin’ to die young and fightin’.”
Or, Dick Grayson hasn't been home is months. Tim thinks the mission his brother is on is too long, so he goes to New York to convince him to come back home. It only takes half a pack of cigarettes.

Summary
Jason might have a stalker.
Okay, technically, Robin might have a stalker. That, or Jason is having a stress-induced psychotic break or being routinely dosed with fear toxin every few patrols. Not that he’s scared, because, well, he’s not. It’s just. He’s supposed to be watching the streets, not vice versa.
It takes him a full week to find (circumstantial, at best) evidence.

Or… Jason is trying to adopt his eleven-year-old stalker and Tim just wants Robin to accept his apology granola bar.

For Whumptober 2023
Days 7 & 9. Prompts Used:
Radio Silence, "Can you hear me?", Mistaken IdentityTim Drake, aged 11, finds an abandoned walkie-talkie and decides to start his own little personal radioshow to combat his loneliness. Jason Todd, Robin, happens to have the other walkie, and soon Tim doesn't feel as lonely anymore.
Tim Drake, aged 16, is lonely once again. But now he's Robin. He keeps talking into the walkie, and his one-man audience happens to still be the same... if a bit more murderous.

Summary
Tim twisted out of his assailant's loosened grip and saw - a kid, only a few years older than Tim himself, holding a tire iron in one hand and a backpack in the other. Tim’s backpack. He was thin, but more in a lean way than skin and bones, and he was glaring daggers at the man who had attacked Tim.
The boy swung the tire iron in a circle and stalked closer to the man, who looked oddly intimidated. “Get out,” he said lowly.
“I’m not little,” Tim protested automatically. The boy gave him a flat look. “Give me my bag.” He paused. “Please.”
“You’re a shrimp.” The boy kept the backpack out of reach. “Give me your name.” There was no please, which Tim thought was rude, but he had saved Tim. Ish.
“Tim. And you are?”
The boy raised an eyebrow at him, clearly amused by Tim’s introduction. “Jason. And you still haven’t told me what the hell you’re doing here. You tryin’ to get mugged?”
In which Jason leaves the Batmobile alone in favor of helping the kid getting mugged.

Summary
Batman is a myth. A legend. A mask without a man behind it. A symbol of hope. Bruce and his family are willing to do a lot to keep the symbol alive, including burning their civilian identities.
“If they come looking for Batman, they can’t be allowed to find him,” Bruce tells this to every new child he takes under his cape. “If they get too close, all they will find is a man who hurts his children.”
Dick hadn’t understood what that would mean.
