Summary
On the day he's set to graduate high school, Sunny decides he's got nothing left to live for. After a chance encounter with old friends, he finds himself being whisked away from the lonely life he knew as the people he was once close to try to show him that things aren't as bad as they might seem.
Basil has spent the past two years recovering. Life is hard, and he knows that better than anyone else ever could. Two years ago, Sunny promised they'd stay in touch-but then he left for the city, and Basil hasn't heard from him since.
Now, Sunny's back, and he's expected to share everything he's worked so hard for with the one person who could throw it all away.
Through the anger, guilt and despair, the two of them are able to find forgiveness.
Forgiveness and a secret fifth thing-something neither of them was looking for, and something that threatens to put their newly rebuilt relationship into jeopardy.

A decent fic with some quirks to it.
I like the general exploration of their past, and there were some interesting threads that kept the story moving.
I did feel the characters' personalities were a bit off. Everyone, from Aubrey to Basil to even Polly, swears like a sailor for no reason. I get that the idea is they've changed over the years, but most of the characters seem to have converged into being Aubrey Lite. Sunny is also much more talkative than I've seen in most other fics.
The flashbacks are nice (although easy to not realize they're flashbacks at first due to formatting) and help fill in the story and add some emotional context and inner thoughts. It makes Basil's memory loss seem a bit perplexing though. Seems like it was very selective about just the hospital.
On that note, I'm curious if the memory loss will eventually be an important plot point. So far it seems kind of irrelevant to the story.
As of chapter 39, the story has reached a sort of "BL fluff-angst plateau." It's cute, but feels like it's moving a bit slowly and Sunny and Basil are absurdly oblivious.
Overall not a bad fic and I'm curious where it'll go.

Lemme know if the tags are used incorrectly.]Unable to take the truth, Sunny jumps off the hospital roof and lands with a sickening crunch. But instead of going to hell, he wakes up in a familiar, comfortable bed, with a second bed beside him. He checks the calender - it's the day before the recital. A second chance, perhaps, to fix everything?
Mari is alive, Basil is his old happy self, Hero still does the best pancakes, Kel makes up stupid puns while Aubrey hits him with an eggplant. To Sunny, after what he's been through in his old life, it's almost heaven. But is everything *really* as rosy as it seems? Well, maybe Sunny isn't exactly in a state to judge either.
[Just FYI - What I post is what I have written. As a result, I don't have an upload schedule. I CAN promise, however, knowing my work ethic, I will keep coming back until it is eventually finished.]

Interesting angle that the events of the game were just a dream seemingly inspired by Sunny's stress of the recital.
Basil is very stressed out about being gay and Sunny's dad is cartoon villain evil.
Curious to see where part 2 goes.
