Summary
“I hit him.”
Everyone froze. Soda closed his eyes against the panic clawing its way up his throat, still facing the stove even as Two-Bit and Steve spun towards the doorway where Darrel was standing, looking more frantic than either of them had ever seen him. Steve stared at Darrel with wide eyes and Two-Bit’s eyebrows rose, slowly swiveling to look at Soda, who was white-knuckling the handle of the spatula in his hand. The kitchen was completely silent.
“I hit him,” Darrel repeated, barely above a whisper, “and he ran away.”
