    He placed the file folder down on the desk, two hands placed on top, as if to stop Ilya from reaching out and opening the file to find the results himself. “I hope you had some good rest last night.” Ilya wanted to reach across and shake the man. Instead he just made a face of agreement. “I have your results now if you’re ready.”

    Ilya wanted to scream. “Yes. I am ready,” he said in a managed voice instead.

    Mr. Carter, sighed, then opened up the file. “Mr. Rosanov, the results yesterday concluded with 99.99 percent certainty that you are in fact the father."

    It's tragic, but so beautiful. It was great to read about Ilya and Shane becoming fathers, they're so good dads. The implied child abuse was tough to go through, but Vals trauma response was so realistic. Also Ilyas struggle with his own traumatic childhood. I really recommend to read this, just don't miss to read the tags!

    Coming out as gay had been supposed to be the easy part.

    He wanted to date. He really did.

    Just… not people he knew.

    Which sounded weird, even inside his own head.

    But the truth was, Luca couldn’t remember ever looking at someone in his real life and feeling that spark people always talked about. That moment where attraction, which was already hard for him, shifted into something deeper. Something that made you want to lean closer instead of pulling away.

    Luca doesn’t feel the spark. He never has. It’s not that he is incapable of loving. He loves so much and so fiercely. Just the romantic and sexual part of love can be… hard for him.

    Ilya and Shane don’t know anything about the worries that keep him up at night, but they took him in nonetheless, aware that he needs someone to look after him, while missing his family so much it’s killing him.

    That’s such a lovely story! I absolutely love this version of Luca Haas and (Elijah) Young <3
    As a native German speaker, I really enjoyed reading it in both English and German, and I giggled about the German inside jokes (Das Kanguru :D)

When coming out to the Voyageurs leaves him wondering what his future in Montreal might look like, he lets himself be a little selfish, he lets himself wonder if there might be somewhere else he might be happy. If Montreal wants to get rid of a generational player, he's not about to stop them, especially if it means he can get a little closer to joy.
