Not everything Crowley says is said out loud. Aziraphale doesn't always hear him at first, but he's learning to stop being surprised.

    Summary

The remains of the bookshop slump on its corner, blackened and mangled, no more than a shamble of bones and broken glass. The windows yawn into empty, hollow sockets; the front doors hang from their hinges, twisted and splintered by heat. Bricks have fallen here and there from the upper floors, littering the ground like so many teeth.

The careful gold lettering above the door, A.Z. Fell and Co., has been scorched away.

“It's just us,” Crowley says, quieter now Aziraphale is looking at him. “Like I said before. There's not really sides anymore. At least for now. And it could be the only chance we ever get. To try it. Just for a bit.”

“Not objecting, just a point of uh, theological interest: is this a temptation? I mean are you tempting me here, or is it…uhm?”

Aziraphale opened his mouth as if to protest, closed it again, and finally offered: “Well actually now that you mention it I suppose it is. I mean I am, yes. But temptation seems such a loaded word, doesn’t it? I just thought, in for a penny in for a pound – if they’re even watching they already know we’ve been consorting together, so we might as well make the most of it. Consort to our hearts’ content, so to speak.”

“Port gives the worst hangovers in the world, did you know that?” Crowley slurred when the bottle was all gone. “Don’t know who got credit for that one. Nice drink, lovely drink, shame it makes you want to die in the morning.”

“Such a shame,” Aziraphale agreed sadly, watching Crowley stretch out on his sofa. He did like port. He liked Crowley stretched out on his sofa, too.
