Summary
Season nine can't hurt you here. This is my head canon for what followed the events of Existence, setting up a continuing mytharc that still has some connection to the original, with lots of Mulder family intrigue. This work focuses on following Mulder and Scully for the first three years after Existence. It's long because it reads as a series of of mytharc episodes (not in screenplay format). Be patient, there is a lot of mythology stuff in here after the domestic fluff. This is where my head canon diverges sharply from Chris Carter's universe.
This is the first stand alone piece I've written. You don't have to have read the previous works in the series which fill in the blanks after Mulder's return in season 8. If an event is referenced in this work that makes you scratch your head, know it's not you! The event likely isn't canon, and is from one of the earlier works in the series.
Apologies in advance, I haven't written anything creatively in 25+ years, it's a little rough around the edges in spots!
