Elphaba and Glinda didn’t mean to fall into something real. It started with a shared project, a road trip across Oz to document queer history. The plan was simple: visit sacred spaces, collect stories, take notes, and move on. But nothing stays simple when you’re sharing motel beds, getting drunk under fairy lights, and folding laundry side by side.
Elphaba has always kept people at arm’s length, too green and too strange to be let in. Glinda’s been adored her whole life but rarely seen. Somewhere between quiet archives and roadside diners, they start to unravel together. They laugh, they bicker, they flirt without fully meaning to, until they do. And then it’s real. It's messy, awkward, slow-burning, and full of heart.
It’s not about where the road takes them. It’s about who they become while getting there.

Oz, what is she doing? She’s meant to be hunting vampires, not a preppy, popular blonde. But there is Galinda, and Elphaba's eyes keep seeking her out against her will. She has butterfly clips of pink and orange pinning her hair back from her face. She's speaking with tall man she doesn't seem to know—Galinda has to crane her neck up a bit to meet his eyes. Dark hair. Elphaba can’t make out his face, but what she can make out—the suit jacket; the grass stain on his shoulder.
Elphaba can’t say for certain that he’s the vampire. But to say that he’s a vampire seems like a pretty safe bet.
Well. Maybe watching out for Galinda is the right move after all.

Summary
After moving to a new city, Glinda decided to go to a bar to cool off, and when one thing led to another and she went home with a stranger, she honestly didn't think much of it. She was ready to brush it off as another little thing. It was only when that stranger suddenly mattered that things got complicated.
She leaned so close to Elphaba that their noses almost touched and added with playful ignorance, “But it seems I’ve been bested. A stranger got into my home somehow. I’ll need to change the locks.”
“And the sheets. I heard they made it into your bed.” Elphaba shifted so her hand gripped the railing, her arm extended to block one of two possible exits for the blonde. “And I also heard they’d like to return sometime.”
