Summary
Sandrone is commissioned to design advanced stage technology for The Damselette’s world tour. The kind of spectacle built to make audiences believe in miracles. Machines built to simulate feelings she no longer allows herself to have.
She expects a shallow celebrity.
Instead, she finds the woman of her seven years, Columbina.
The name alone unsettles her. Not because Columbina was ever too much, but because she notices too much. The smallest hesitations. The carefully constructed masks. The things Sandrone never says aloud.
Like she never stopped learning her.
"I did it because I chose to.”
“You don’t have to keep that on when you’re with me.”
“As long as it’s you.”And she hates how part of her still wants to be known by her.
Because love was never the thing that destroyed them.
It was everything left unsaid after.
