Summary
The Targaryen brothers seem to have made it. They left behind a rotten trailer and an equally rotting family, finding solace in a new city with the help of their older sister as they try to build a new life for themselves and their beloved pets. Everything seems to be slowly moving forward, a new sort of hope just barely out of reach for Aemond and his older brother Aegon.
But familiar diseases and an ancient darkness follow after them, the twisted web that binds them together is still laced with poison as they try to fight against the same old problems. They don’t know if healing is even possible for them but that still won’t keep them from trying.

Summary
“We should take that shit off sometime.”
Aemond finally looked at him, following Aegon's eyes to the wall, right behind the head of the table where their mother used to sit. Hanging there was a portrait of what is supposed to be Christ, with a large, decorated cross right below it. Aemond distinctively remembered mother ferociously cleaning both every day without a single exception.
He let his head fall against Aegon's ribcage like it was suddenly feeling heavy, and he sighed when his brother's free hand settled on the crown of his head, stroking the long strands.
“Mother wouldn't like it if we did.”

Summary
The brief flashing of fear across Aegon's widened eyes was delicious in its own way, only making Aemond want to tighten his hold on him. “And you thank me for it by continuous disrespect. Your loyal hound, is that what I am? Did you believe I would never discover how you speak of me?”
“Aem–” was all that Aegon could press out, clawing at his brother's hand, leaving red scratch marks.
“Tell me, brother, do you still see me as loyal now?”
Aegon's lips twisted and next thing Aemond knew, he had spat in his face. The younger barely reacted, only humming passively as his gaze turned colder.
“Fucking… cunt…”, Aegon hissed, sounding as if it took all his might to form the words.

“I am thrilled to see you too.”, Jonah grinned, delicately removing his gloves as the other man tried to master his breath, “Usually it's you who startles me.”
“What are you doing here, Magnus?”
“I have decided to join you on your little vacation.”

Summary
“I spent three years at boarding school without you.”, Jonah said, a grin forming on his face, “What changed that has got you longing so deeply after just a couple of months?”
Barnabas shrugged.
He didn't know what to say to that. Perhaps it was the way the sun kissed Jonah's curls, bathing them in golden light, a halo so bright it blinded. Or how the summer brought the freckles to his nose and his shoulders. How gracefully he moved, how confidently he spoke.
Perhaps he had just started to look at Jonah differently over the last few years.

Summary
“I see you there, you know,” the alpha calls out to Aerion. “Are you the stable boy?”
Aerion’s eye twitches at the mere thought of him being a stable boy. This man, honestly, what a brute to assume such a thing.
He wants nothing more than to bite the alpha’s head off, but instead, he just settles for biting his lip to keep his anger at bay. He cannot draw attention to himself.
“No,” Aerion snaps at the brute, readjusting the hood of his cloak to make sure it stays on and conceals his hair. “Leave.”
He cannot let anyone see it, lest he wants to be returned to his father.
“Nothing to be ashamed of if you are,” the alpha tries to placate him. “It’s a decent job to have.”
Then, to Aerion’s horror and annoyance, the alpha tosses him a coin, one that proceeds to land by Aerion’s feet.
aerion runs away to escape an arranged marriage and ends up meeting a brute of an alpha at a stable, out of all places.

Summary
Tim clicked the recorder on, and both of them ignored the shiver its familiar rasp sent down their spines.
“Letter from Robert Smirke, August 23, 1815. Taken from, ah, a document which was found in a box marked Highly Confidential: Do Not Open Under Any Circumstances, but it’s pretty old, so we figure whoever cared is probably dead anyway,” he said, shrugging. “It was interesting and we’re stuck in a horrible hell job, so, like, whatever. Who’s gonna stop me?”
“Nice,” said Melanie, high-fiving him.
