Their dynamic didn’t change much in the aftermath of that evening. “That he looks like a stick and has no friends. That’s really mean, Feng Xin!”5 times Feng Xin made Mu Qing cry for the wrong reasons, and once he finally made him cry for the right one.

Summary
“Who the fuck is THIS!” Feng Xin yells when he finally finds his voice, pointing at the nondescript man kissing Ink Mu Qing’s neck.
“Who do you think?” Mu Qing grabs an ornamental paperweight off the desk and throws it at him. “Can’t you read? It’s supposed to be you!”
The paperweight hits Feng Xin square in the chest. He doesn’t flinch, or even seem to feel it at all, because he’s looking at the drawing again.
“It doesn’t even look like me!” He shouts, like this is the problem.

Feng Xin hesitated for a moment. “Until you tell me my feelings aren’t returned. Tell me you don’t feel the same. Tell me you don’t want something with me, and I’ll leave you alone.”
“I don’t—”
Mu Qing started to speak but then stopped abruptly. The words never seemed to be able to leave his mouth.
When Mu Qing changes his cultivation path, Feng Xin approaches him to confirm if it’s true. He suggests giving the idea of ‘them’ a chance. But Feng Xin has kept him waiting for centuries, resentment having built up over time due to the rejection. Mu Qing wants to push him away and tell him he doesn’t want that—that he isn't in love with Feng Xin anymore.
But it would be a lie.
